September 18th, Sonipat: The Jindal Policy Conclave of the OP Jindal Global University invited Dr. Lobsang Sangay as a Keynote Speaker at the annual conference of the Jindal Policy Conclave. Before the talk, Dr. Sangay was invited for a breakfast with Prof. Raj Kumar, founding Vice-Chancellor of the OP Jindal Global University. Then, Dr. Sangay was given a tour of the newly constructed ‘Supreme Court’ Museum and the Moot Court.
The Jindal Policy Conclave was attended by more than 200 students and the faculties. Prof. Sudarshan, Dean of the Jindal School of Government and Public Policy introduced Dr. Lobsang Sangay where he stated that Dr. Sangay had to fill a big shoe of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to make the Tibetan democracy in Exile fully functional.
Dr. Sangay spoke on the theme of the conclave ‘A Young India at the Global Stage’. Dr. Sangay questioned the audience why they say India is a young country. India, a country driven by civilizational ethos, is almost 5000 years old. India was once the richest country in the world. So, Indians must reclaim this pinnacle and be proud of their history. Dr. Sangay gave an example of the Ashoka period where India thrived throughout the world. Moreover, the Emperor Ashoka exported Buddhism around the world. Today, so many Buddhist nations are hugely influenced by India. So, India must work on it to foster their ‘Soft-Power’ diplomacy.
Dr. Sangay also remarked that India can transform China civilizationally, provided India takes all the necessary steps to ensure it.
The conclave opening scene ended with the exchange of Q&A.
